Overlap & finishing
The drill involves two players. Set up the cones according to the diagram. The player with the ball passes to the player positioned inside the square. As the pass is made, the passer begins an overlapping run, circling around the cone box. Upon receiving the ball, the player inside the box plays a through-ball down the flank. That player then moves toward the center, passing between the two centrally placed cones. They must time their run with the overlapping player so that a cross can be delivered into the upper part of the penalty area—or just outside it—for a first-time finish.
